WESTBURY COMMUNITY WALL

Westbury Fall Festival
Saturday, September 29, 2002

The building of the "Westbury Community Wall" began on this day at the Westbury Fall Festival. Members of the Verizon Village T.E.A.M. invited members of the Westbury community to draw pictures on tiles explaining why their community was special. While V.V.T. members and faculty stood outside in the sun on the crisp, sunny autumn day, children of the community, young and old drew beautiful pictures depicting everything from the world at large to their own backyards! Tiles were then placed onto a cardboard “wall” where people could check on their progress all day! The tables filled with tiles and markers were crowded all day. V.V.T. members also visited the different stations at the Fair and asked community members to fill out surveys providing us with information about the technology needs of Westbury. We received many good responses and made connections with some Westbury organizations such as LIPAT and the North Shore Guidance Family Center. We look forward to creating and documenting many more of these events in the Westbury community and with working with members of the community to better serve you. Look for us at other community events in the future soon!

The spot at the Street Fair was provided for us by the Westbury BID and
the tiles were donated by Richie’s Home Improvements in Astoria.
