The EEV will partner in collaborative actions inspired by this exhibit. Join us in these and other ventures. As always, EEVillagers define action. We welcome you to define some with us.

Here's what we anticipate thus far:

Click the "ART" button to take a look at works of art as introduction to this special EEV collaboration. Let them draw you into their space. Clear your mind and respond. Respond in thought, in writing, in artistic expressions of all kinds. Inquire about these works. What do you want to know about them, about their creators, about the time and places in which they were made?

The Heckscher Museum of Art presents Aaron Copland's America and numerous opportunities at the museum associated with it. Take the audio tour of the exhibit. Join us for the Concert and the Opening. Take a tour with a museum educator with a K-12 class. And so much more (see a listing of the Heckscher activities for the exhibit at http://www.heckscher.org .)

Cablevision highlights the exhibit on its http://Powertolearn.com site for teachers, children, and people of the community. Connect to Powertolearn.com in the museum or from your home. This is a wonderful resource for all of you!

The Tilles Center and the C.W. Post Institute for Arts and Culture will sponsor a Copland concert for children. American Ballet Theater Studio Company, Pierrot Consort, and C.W. Post Orchestra present FANFARE FOR AN UNCOMMON MAN: A Centennial Tribute to Aaron Copland. See http://www.cwpost.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/tilles/tilles.html.

The EEV will host several workshops and events associated with the exhibit. Join us for any or all of them (R.S.V.P. to bes@liu.edu required). Some of the workshops and events are the following:

Jennifer Ostrager from Cablevision and Bette Schneiderman from Long Island University will conduct three workshops linking the Cablevision and EEV collaboration on October 10, October 11, and November 11. (See the EEV Calendar and RSVP if you're interested.)

The EEV will sponsor 10 people to attend the Copland Concert and the Opening of the Exhibit on November 5.

Visit the Heckscher Museum of Art to view the show anytime from November 5th on. Pick up an EEV sheet from the information desk. Fill it out and return it to the desk. Your reply will become a part of this EEV site.

Respond to the questions with the art here. These, too, will be represented on this site [see link above].

Tom Kelly, Mary Johnsen, Lisette Lennon, David Holmes, Joanne Palisi, Jackie Poole, John Reilly, Steve Meyers and other teachers from Bridgehampton Schools will tell about their partnership in this collaboration soon. They will welcome your connections to them. Bridgehampton students will visit the exhibit on November 6 and 8.

Tom Kelly travels to Turkmenistan of the former Soviet Union from Oct. 13 to Nov. 2. There he will bring messages about life in America, about Democracy, about Bridgehampton school and the students there, and about this EEV collaboration. We invite you to explore concepts of democracy and of Aaron Copland's America while building a relationship with the people Tom meets. We look forward to hearing about life in Turkmenistan and what we might share in activities with children and adults there. Tom's work will link to this collaboration and also open other collaborations focused on people of the world, their cultures and ideas. Again, join in with us.

Artists from Taller Boricua in East Harlem join us in celebrating the collaboration and in welcoming participants into their special space on Lexington and 106th Street. There children and adults look at the arts and expression as means of communication, as representing culture and ideas, and as empowerment. November 16th will be a celebration day at the Taller for the Taller within the EEV and as part of this collaboration. Fernando Salicrup, Sr. and Marcos Dimas lead the Taller Boricua. The EEV, along with Faye Feller of the Taller, will create this special day for all interested.

Corinne Carriero and Ellen Robertson will lead workshops as part of the collaboration. (Check the EEV Calendar and please RSVP if you are interested)

  • October 14 - Using wireless technology, participants will research the life and works of Aaron Copland for background information to be used in subsequent workshops. A database will be designed and developed to house this information. Use of digital cameras and QuickTimeVR technology will be introduced in order to prepare for the subsequent workshop at the Heckscher Museum of Art and back in Half Hollow Hills.

  • November 14 - Participants will collect images (using digital cameras) and information from the Copland exhibit and input this into the previously developed database of information about the artist. QTVR movies will also be taken of all galleries.

  • November 18 - Participants will utilize the previously developed database of information and images from the Copland exhibit to develop QuickTime multimedia movies using MovieWorks software.

  • November 20 - Participants will learn how to prepare QuickTime movies for the Internet. Previous developed MovieWorks movies will be formatted as streaming videos and posted to the web. Participants will also have the opportunity to archive their work using USB CD burner.
