10. El Museo Del Barrio

EL Museo del Barrio was born of the legacy of cultural activism. Thirty years ago, Puerto Rican leaders of East Harlem's El Barrio — educators, artists, social and political activists — founded an institution to preserve and reflect their cultural heritage. It is housed in the Heckscher Building.
