Why Sub Webs? New Publishing
Questions?
We need to work on your collaboration files to make them all accessible to you. They reside at the moment on one of our servers, which is being reconstructed. In some cases, we need to polish some of the projects with you or decide where we will leave them. Here are instructions as to how to access your projects if they are on the TEAM server.  If you have projects residing on Arvind Borde's Techcenter server please contact Dr. Borde for instructions on how to update those files.

Team Web Site Has Changed - Please Note !!!

All web folders have been moved. Please read carefully to find existing folders and to create new ones. If the folder you are seeking began with a tilde (~), you need to look for it by the same name in the web sub-folder called (/~/), e.g., if it was reached before as http://team.liu.edu/~mybestweb, it is now reached as http://team.liu.edu/~/~mybestweb. Note the insertion of the secondary folder called /~/.

Folders beginning with a - m

If the folder you are seeking began with a letter between a & m, you need to look for it by the same name in the web sub-folder called (/a-m/), e.g., if it was reached before as http://team.liu.edu/bobsbestweb, it is now reached as http://team.liu.edu/a-m/bobsbestweb. Note the insertion of
the secondary folder called /a-m/.

Folders beginning with n-z.

If the folder you are seeking began with a letter between n & z, you need to look for it by the same name in the web sub-folder called (/n-z/), e.g., if it was reached before as http://team.liu.edu/suesclassweb, it is now reached as http://team.liu.edu/n-z/suesclassweb. Note the insertion of
the secondary folder called /a-m/.

Why Subwebs?

These changes are an attempt to make publishing access to the TEAM server more responsive. We believe its slowness and non-responsiveness is caused by the literally thousands of folders in and off of the main root of the TEAM web server. By creating sub webs, we hope to increase responsiveness for everyone publishing to TEAM.

NEW PUBLISHING

NEW PUBLISHING: If you are publishing a new web, follow the guidelines described above and insert the folder in the proper sub-folder by the first character of the web name itself, i.e., if it begins with a tilde (~), it goes in http://team.liu.edu/~/~yournewwebname. If it begins with any letter from a to m, it goes inhttp://team.liu.edu/a-m/mynewwebname. If it begins with any letter from n to z, it goes in
http://team.liu.edu/n-z/thenewwebname

Beginning in the fall semester, TEAM students will publish to sub-webs by TEAM name, which will give us much better web organization.

DO NOT PUBLISH DIRECTLY TO THE WEB ROOT !

Please be aware, anyone who publishes directly to the web root
(http://team.liu.edu/mynewweb) will find that we will erase that folder
without warning.

QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS?

Questions about these changes should be directed to Dr. Byrne.
