Melissa Perrone

Grade Level: Grades 2-3

Objectives: Learning spelling words easier and having more fun doing it. Giving meanings to each word using pictures and any other methods. This will be given every Thursday before a spelling test on Friday.

Materials: Index cards, Pictures

Procedure: Every student will be given an index card on their desk at the beginning of class. I will hold up a picture and ask what it is. The students will then write the word on the index card and raise their hand when they are finished. The first person with the correct spelling of the word will come up to the front of the class and give the correct spelling while also giving a description of the word. The student could do it in a form of a sentence. For example, if the word is running, there may be a picture of a runner. The student can describe why a person may run.

Check for Understanding/ Assignment: I will handout a list of spelling words. Each student will write the correct spelling of the word. Then they will use the spelling word in a form of a sentence.
