In reading about Lev Vygotsky in his short life of only 37 years he has given us a different way of thinking and looking at education. I searched in Hotbot at www.english.sh.com.br/sk-vygot.html and it gave me this picture and quote about Vygotsky. It is his way of expressions of thoughts, it helped me better understand in a brief manner his way of thinking. It gave me some insight into his character.
Vygotsky believed that the "history of the society in which a child is reared and the childs personal history are crucial to the way in which the child thinks."
I searched in Excite to get more information on Lev Vygotsky and it led me to www.coe.uh.edu/wichen/ebook/Et-It/social.htm. It discussed in full social constructivism. With in social constructivism it allows for the teacher a broader scope for their involvement into the childs education. Culture with respect to the child is a very important part in their development. Parents and teachers are "conduits" for the tools of the culture. Culture provides a child with their "history, social context, and language." Vygotsky way of thinking helps the students deal and cope with problems. In addition Lev like working in groups as well. It helps the students think about issues, ask questions, support and encourage one another, and advise one another as they approach problems.
I reached enjoyed researching on the Web because it made me aware of the all information out there. Plus it made me aware of the wide variety of places I have to choose from when needing to research.
