Author: My name is Jack and my family is from all different parts of Europe. Some parts are Hungary and Poland.

Geography

Ohio is 220 miles long and 220 miles wide.  The capital of Ohio is Columbus.  Ohio is bordered by Pennsylvania and West Virginia on the east. On the west Ohio shares its border with Indiana. To the north of Ohio is Michigan and Lake Erie. Ohio is bordered by Kentucky and West Virginia in the south.  The major rivers are  the Ohio River, Cuyahoga River, Miami River, Sandusky River and the major lakes are Lake Erie, Grand Lake.

Ohio is made up of rolling plains.

 

The Current population in Ohio is 10,847,115. The population density is is 262 people per square mile.

History

Ohio entered the U.S. Union March ,1 1803

 

Climate

 Ohio has cold winters and warm, humid summers with an average temperature of 52°, Fahrenheit. Monthly average temperatures range from a high of 85.8 degrees to a low of 15.5 degrees.

History

Did you know that seven presidents were born in Ohio?  Also, it was the birthplace of the first major league baseball team. In my family my grandmother was born in Ohio.

Food

Ohio invented the all-American favorite, the hot dog!

A typical American kid's meal would be: Chicken fingers and that American classic: the Hotdog!

Here's a traditional recipe from Ohio:

OHIO Chili Recipe

1 pound pork sausage
1 pound ground round
2 cups onion -- minced
1/3 cup garlic -- minced
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/3 cup hot chile powder
3 whole bay leaf
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground allspice
2 tablespoons tabasco sauce
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
28 ounces tomato puree
32 ounces canned kidney beans -- drained

Combine sausage, beef, onions, garlic, chile powder, and bay leaf in a stockpot over a moderate flame. Heat and stir for 10-15 minutes, until browned.  Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Serve hot, garnished with a dollop of sour cream. Serves 12.

 Economy

Ohio grows soybeans and dairy products and corn. Their livestock includes hogs, cattle ,poultry and eggs. They are used to sell and manufacture goods.

The cost of living in this State is that you must leave behind your old culture and your old home.

 

Government

The Governor is Bob Theft.

 

Cultural Arts

In Cleveland, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been welcoming visitors from all over the world to explore the legends, roots, and history of rock music.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland, Ohio.  Every year they induct a new musician into the Hall of Fame.

Museums: Cincinnati Art Museum, Akron Art Museum.

 

Fun and Recreation

    If you went to Ohio then you would probably play baseball because ,Ohio is in the middle of the U.S. Also, you would go camping for the same reason. Maybe you would visit a museum.

Family Values

The responsibilities of the mother in a typical American Family are to take care of the baby in the family .The responsibilities of a father in a typical American family are to work and sometimes pay the bills. The responsibilities of the children in a typical American family are to go to school, and do chores.

University Of Phoenix, DeVry University and ITT Tech are some of the Colleges and University in Ohio.
