Geography
Norway's
capital is Oslo. It is glaciated. It also has mostly high
plateaus and rugged mountains broken by fertile valleys.
Norway has small scattered plains. Its coastline is deeply
indented by fjords. This country is located in the northern
and eastern hemispheres, some of the neighboring countries

The life expectancy for a man in Norway is 73.75 years and for a
woman it is 81.77 years.

Government
Norway has a monarch and a parliament. Its parliament
is the lawmaking body. In Norway members of parliament are elected
for a four year term.
Religion
In Norway 90% of the people there are Lutheran. The
rest of the people belong to other Christian churches. Most of the
Norwegians observe traditional religious ceremonies. For example a Lutheran
baby joins the Church through baptism.
Family Values
Men are
generally the head of the family. Both parents can work outside of
the home. Young people are expected to respect their elders.
Children are also given a lot of attention and care.
Children
begin school at age 5. They are expected to continue through
the 10th Grade. The schooling is free until the 10th grade
too. Some choose to go on to college, others do not. A college
diploma is important in getting a job.
Food
The staple diet in Norway is fish!
Language
The country's officials language is Norwegian which
has two similar forms-bokmal and nynorsk. |
Family Values
When the elderly in the family
become sick they are either put in homes for the aged or the younger
take care of him/her.
Most parents work outside of the
home. they usually go to offices, fishing boats or stores. The
responsibilities and chores the kids in Norway have are cooking,
washing dishes, cleaning, feeding pets, help with grocery shopping,
farm animals (maybe) and help parents on fishing boats.
The kids also have jobs outside of their home.
The children in Norway can start
school at the age of 5 -16. The children must file for college
in high school. They receive an equal amount of schooling!
Norway has all the children's rights a child there should have!
Arts and Culture
One piece of art which is displayed by the
Norwegians is the beautiful carved tables and chairs. Workers carve complex
designs like flowers, angles on church altars and doors. Norwegians homes
typically boast also hand woven rugs and table runners.
Holidays and Festivals
Norwegians celebrate Christmas and
Constitution Day.
