Geography

My country is Malaysia. It is in the south east part of Asia.  it has three bordering countries. They are Brunei, Indonesia and East Malaysia. Malaysia is mostly land with 328, 550 square kilometers of land and only 1, 200 square kilometers of water. in total Malaysia ones is 329, 750 square kilometers. 

 

The population of Malaysia is 21.7 million people in total. In Malaysia about 45 percent of Malaysia lives in the urban part of the country and 55 percent lives in the suburbs.            

Climate

Malaysia is a warm country about seven degrees north of the equator. The tropical climate is hot and humid. The temperatures range from 70 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. That is 21 to 32 degrees Celsius. The natural hazards are flooding, and land slides.

Economy

In Malaysia their money is called ringgit. It is equal to a dollar in America.   

In Malaysia if you want to stay in a comfortable  hotel It would cost you sixty five ringgit. 

Some natural resources are timber, copper and gas.                        

Holidays and Festivals

In Malaysia there are a lot of holidays to celebrate. there are Christmas, new years day, Chinese New Year, Flora festival and the moon cake festival. On Chinese New Year they hand out reds envelopes with money in them and stay up late for a party and the countdown to the new year. On the moon cake festival they  have moon cakes which are mini cakes that used to carry secret messages during war times.

 

 

 

 

 

Language

In Malaysia they speak a lot of different languages. On peninsula Malaysia they speak Malay English, Chinese, and Tamil sabah Sarawak. A person greets another person by saying ni hao (hello).  

Cultural Arts

There are a lot of artistes in Malaysians area, but I think the most well known is Alphonso Arul Doss.The dances in this country are ronggeng, joget, kenyah dance, barongan, kuda kepeng, zapin, candle dance, and wayang kulit

 

 

 

 

Food

Malaysian food is spicier than Chinese food. Some people are farmers and some buy food from a store or market or village. They use their advantage of being an island and fish. A staple food is a food that is eaten in almost every meal. Malaysia's staple food is rice. Malaysians eat rice at least once a day.

Sports and Recreation

For entertainment and recreation people play sports. The popular sports games are silat and speak takraw. Silat is the Malaysian art of self-defense which is preformed in a stylized way. Speak takraw is one of Malaysia's most popular sports. players keep a small rattan ball in the air using their feet, legs, shoulders and heads,  anything but your hands.
