In Ireland the
humidity is very high. Also they get 4 thunderstorms a year. It is
very rainy and they have chiller summers in Ireland than America.
Fun Fact: Ireland keeps there temperature in Celsius rather that in Fahrenheit.
Government
The legal system
decides whether someone has trespassed the law by basing it upon the
English Common Law. People are chosen to lead the country by being
elected by 49 people elected from the universities and candidates of
the Senate.
Economy
The money used
in Ireland and all of Europe is called Euros. The currency
rate taken in April 2003 is about 85 - 93 cents for a dollar. The
woman stay at home to care for the children and household. And
the husband provides the money for the family. Most of Ireland
was made up of farmers (agriculture) but in the present day
the amount of men and women employed in agriculture is rapidly
decreasing.
Food
The crops grown
in Ireland are potatoes, onions, and vegetables. The meats
that they eat are pork, ham, and bacon with pudding. Their
dairy products are Irish cheddar cheese, and butter. They get
their food by going to the market, or growing it, themselves.
There biggest
baking product is Irish soda bread. Irish soda bread contains
mainly bread, raisons, and caraway seeds.
A
typical days menu would have bacon, eggs and cereal for
breakfast. For lunch there would be many meats and cheeses.
For dinner there would be a choice of beef, ham, or seafood.
Sports and Recreation
People do Irish step-dancing for fun, along with
competing. Football is also popular.
Language
The languages spoken
in Ireland are Gaelic and English. A typical person would greet
someone by tipping their hat. If someone visited Ireland they would
hear some expressions like good day, and thank you.

Geography
Ireland's
capital is Dublin. Ireland is
in the North Eastern hemisphere and is located in the continent of Europe.
The United Kingdom and France are two neighboring countries to Ireland. In
Ireland they do not have states like America but instead they have counties.
Some of the counties are Galway and Killarny. In Ireland they have The Black River, in Dunloe. The
Black River does not have ordinary "blue" water, it
has "black" water. Also next to the Black River,
there is the Gap of Dunloe. This is a gap in between two
mountains. There is the Irish Sea, which is located in between
Ireland and The Isle of Man. Ireland also has the Sea of
Strangford, Causeway Coast, Glens of Antrim, Feranagh
Lakeland, Sperrin Mountains, The Cliffs of Moher, Mountains of
Mourne and Empty moors of western Ulster.
The
population taken in October in 2002, was 3,917,300 people. The average age for a male
to live, is 74.23 years of age. The average age for a female to live
is 79.93 years of age. Ages 15 and older can read and write.
Cultural Arts

Dancing is a very big thing in Ireland. Many of the
Irish folk start when they're young. They practice
usually five - seven days a week for about two hours a day.
They are amazing dancers! They wear wigs, very fancy
dresses. There
are many castles in Ireland that have been there for
millions of years. Some of the important castles in Ireland
are the Blarney Castle, the Ross Castle and Bunratty Castle.
Religion
One major
religions is atheist. The people that are atheist think that there are no
Gods and their rituals vary. Another religion is Roman Catholic. They
believe in one God and at Communion they bless bread and then it
becomes the body of Jesus.
Holidays and Festivals
One of the holidays
celebrated in Ireland is St. Patrick's Day. This is also
celebrated all over the world. On St. Patrick's Day they have
many parades. They dress in the color green. Green represents St.
Patrick. Some symbols of St. Patrick's Day is leprechauns, four leaf
clovers and three leaf clovers. A festival celebrated in Ireland is
a day that they remember the Great Famine Ireland. " The Great
Famine" means that all of the crops dried out and there was no food!
The Horror! Many people died in this famine so on a certain
days/week people remember all of their lost loved ones.
