Geography
The name of our country is Greece. Its capital city is
Athens and is in the Northeastern hemisphere. It is
located in Europe. Bordering countries are Albania, Fyrom, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Greece is made up of
thousands of islands and is a peninsula. In Greece
earthquakes are a hazard. In all of Greece there are
51458 square miles/131944 square kilometers. Greece has
some of the poorest countries in Europe in farming because
their land is too rocky and hard. Greece has lots of
landmarks but the main one is the Acropolis.

The population of Greece is 10,750,000
people. About
everyone in Greece can read and write over the age of 15.
Climate
Greece has mild,
wet winters and hot, dry summers. Greece also has natural
disasters. They have earthquakes and volcanoes.
Economy
In Greece
the currency is Drachma.
Greece
imports twice as much as they export. One of the reasons
is because it is a dry country with poor soil.
Some of the things that Greece exports are grapes [ wine ]
olives, and vegetables. Also coal, bauxite and lignite.
Tourism is Greece's largest industry. Many people in
Greece work in hotels, shops and other small industries.

Government
Greece is a
parliamentary republic. They have a prime minister and
president.
Holidays
Some Greek
holidays are the Hellenic Festival, and Gynaikratia. In the Hellenic
Festival there is drama and music in ancient theatres. In
Gynaikratia there is a reversal of villages in Northern
Greece. Women spend the day in cafes. Men stay home and
do housework.
Fun and Recreation
The popular sports in England are
soccer and figure skating. The main sport in England is Cricket. A popular
children's game is British Bullfrog.
Language
In Greece Greek is spoken. A word that
comes from Greek translated to English is olympics.

Food
Greece's
main industry is grape wineries/wine. One other crop is
olives.
To get food
people fish and farm. Most people in Greece rely on
farmers to supply them with food. Usually most food is bought
at a market. Feta cheese is popular among Greeks.
Grapes and
olives originated from Greece. Seafood,[ octopus and
fish] cheese,[ Feta and Cottage] and to drink, usually
red or white wine.
