France is
located in Western Europe. Many countries border
France. Countries like Belgium, Germany, Italy,
Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland, and the two countries that
France owns, Monaco and Andorra. France is separated
from Switzerland and Italy by The Swiss Alps. The
capital city of France is Paris. The second biggest city
is Marseille and the next biggest city is Lyon.
There are
many bodies of water in France. There is The Mediterranean
Sea, The Atlantic Ocean, The English Channel, and The Bay of
Biscay.
Population
The
population of France is about 60,000,000.Out of all of the sixty million
people, 83%of them can read and write. Most French women pass
away at around 83 years old. Men pass away at about 75 years
old.

Climate
Southern France is
the hottest part of the country. There are mild winters and
very hot summers. The northern and western part of France
isn't so great either. It's only cold and dry all year.
Eastern France is the luckiest because there are cool winters and
mild summers.
Some
natural disasters in France are disasters like floods, avalanches,
windstorms, droughts, and forest fires.
Government
In France, a
president and a prime minister is elected to help
him/her. The National Assembly and the senate of France make
the laws. They are also elected by the French
citizens.
Economy
France used to
use Francs, but now it uses Euro like many other European
countries. One hundred dollars are 609 Francs. Two
Dollars would be about 1.80 Euro.
In
France most people work in factories, farms, and other types
of places.
Idea of Beauty
French
clothing, hairstyles, make up and jewelry are all very similar
to clothing, hairstyles, jewelry and make up in the United
States. ON special occasions, French people wear dresses
and suits just like in America. France is famous for
Textiles.
Religion
Most
of the French citizens are Roman Catholic and Protestant.
Family Values
In most
families in Paris, both parents work. In urban
areas, children have to do chores and in rural areas children
have to do work at home. Children are all treated
equally in France.
Many
French children go to school at age 2. They start at
nursery school and end at college just like in America.
But in France kids go to school for free.
Food
In France,
they grow crops like grains, sugar beets, potatoes and wine
grapes.
People get
food by farming or getting it at the supermarket. The
foods that French people eat every day are foods like bread
and meat. Famous French
foods are foods like French wine, cheese fondue, and beef
bourguignon.

Cultural Arts
From
France there are many well known artists like Claude Monet,
and Paul Cézanne. One Famous French Writer is Albert Camas.
There are also many composers like Claude Debussy and
Maurice Ravel.

French dances are dances like the basse dance, courante,
court ballet, gavotte, gigue, minuet, and sarabande.
There is
a famous French Museum called the Louvre Museum. The link to

Social Etiquette
You
should always greet a women by saying Madame before their name and
you should greet a man by saying Monsieur before their name.
It is polite to speak French correctly when speaking. It is
rude to be loud in France.
In France it is very rude to walk up
to someone before greeting them. You shouldn't think of pointing at
someone either.
Sports and Recreation
Most French
children like to play darts, chess, checkers and electronic
games. Soccer, Tennis bowling and biking are very popular
sports in France. The Tour de France cycling race is taken
place every year.
Holidays and Festivals
The major holidays are Bastille
Day, July 14th and Christmas Day, December 25th. On July 14th,
Bastille Day, they have parade picnics and fireworks because that was when
they weren't ruled by their king and queen anymore. On December 25th,
Christmas Day, people have a feasts and children get candy and toys.
