Geography

The area of Ecuador is 283,520 kilometers. The capital is Quito, Ecuador. It is a little smaller than Nevada (United States). Ecuador is located in South America. Ecuador is subject to a lot of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Ecuador probably has so many volcanic eruptions because it has 31 active volcanoes. The Galapagos islands are famous for being off the coast of this country.

Population

The population of Ecuador was 13,447,494 in 2002. Over 90% of these people are Roman Catholic.

Ecuador has many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Economy

In Ecuador the people use the American dollar.

In Ecuador there is a lot of agriculture. Some of these crops are corn, potatoes and rice. It is good that they grow these crops in Ecuador because it is typical to see in an everyday meal.

Food

Each holiday in Ecuador has assorted with a with a special kind of food. Each town in Ecuador has a specialty dish. In Ecuador usually the mother serves to the father first and then the male children and last the female children. The females of the family prepare and help serve the meals of the day. the mother of the family will only eat after everyone else has been attended to. Bananas are popular in Ecuador. It is one of there major crops. Some other crops are corn, rice, beans, and potatoes.

A unique recipe from Ecuador is Ecuadorian Potato Soup.

Language

Some languages they speak in Ecuador are Spanish Quecha, Quichua, and other indigenous languages.
