Geography

The Dominican Republic's neighboring country are Haiti.  The Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean.  Mountains separate the Dominican Republic into northern, central, and southwest regions. Major rivers are Yaque del Darte and Yaque del Sur.The capital city is Santo Domingo. Major cities are Santiago de los Calleros and La Romana.

Population

In the Dominican Republic, girls live longer than boys. Female live up to 70.5 average. Male live up to 64.1 average.401 people per square mile.

Climate

The average temperature is 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The natural disasters are cyclones. 

Economy

Important crops are coffee, cotton, and tobacco.

Government

The citizens in Dominican Republic use the electoral system. People 18 year or older can vote. They vote for their president. The judicial power makes the law for Dominican Republic   

Food

The citizens of the Dominican Republic grow vegetables.  Citizens in cities buy foods from markets.

Fun and Recreation

The people of the Dominican Republic like mountain biking and playing baseball. They also enjoy swimming in the lakes of Dominican Republic .

Education

In the Dominican Republic children begin school at the age of seven. The children can quit school at the age of fourteen. Girls and boys both receive equal education. Only 10% go to college in the whole Dominican republic.

Religion

The main religion is Catholicism.

Useful Expressions:

The official language of the Dominican Republic is Spanish. They like speaking it. When people  greet each other say hola and shake hands.
