History

The movement west caused more people came to live in California because of the California Gold Rush. People rushed to California in 1849 because gold was discovered there.

California became a state in the year 1849.

Government

The judicial branch tells the laws to the people, the executive branch makes sure people follow the laws and the legislative branch writes the laws. We have police, firefighters, and schools.

Leland Stanford is the current governor of California.

Family Values

The responsibilities of parents are very important. Usually, both parents work. If not, then the parent that doesn't work takes care of the family.

Children's responsibilties are to do chores around the house. if the children are old enough, they go to do work outside of their own house. Sons and daughters are treated equally. it does not matter if the child is the oldest, youngest, or middle child, but usually the oldest child has the most responsibilties.

Public schools, private schools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and colleges are available in my state. The name of a college is Westwood College

Children go to school the same months and time as we do in New York.

Non-Verbal Communication

People use sign language to communicate with people who are deaf.

Economy

Natural resources in California are trees, water and grown crops. They are used locally and for export because California grows crops and sells it to other states. There are many orange groves and vineyards in California where wine is produced.

Tourism is an economical resource. Hollywood is a city where a lot of people go as tourists. They go because there are museums, beaches, and many cultural arts.
