Geography

Burma is a medium-sized country. It is almost the size of California  

Population

The current population for Burma is 41,734,853. More than 1 million Indian and Bangladeshi immigrants also live there.  

Climate

Burma's climate is usually hot or humid     

Economy

The major products and industries are: teak, rice, jute, illegal opium poppies, Agricultural processing; textiles and footwear; wood and wood products; copper, tin, tungsten, iron; construction materials; pharmaceuticals, fertilizer  Teakwood became Burma's major export in 1985.

 

Religion

Buddhist 89%,Christian 4%(Baptist 3%,Roman Catholic 1%)Muslim 4%, animist 1 % other 2%.The Religion, Buddhism is popular in Burma.   

Language

Burmese, Shan, Karen, Rakhine, Mon, Chin, Kachin, Kayah people speak their own different languages English is taught as a second language in Burma 5% speak Chinese or Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamilor or Urdu 

 

Sports and Recreation

Burmese Boxing is popular.

 

Holidays and Festivals

Peasants' Day is celebrated on March 2nd. National Higher Education Day is celebrated on December 2nd. Another holiday in Burma is Union of Myanmar. It is celebrated on February 12th.
