Geography

Brazil shares a border with almost every country in South America. Only Chile and Ecuador are untouched .Brazil almost covers half of South America. The capital is Brasilia and the coast is on the Atlantic ocean. Brazil is in the southern hemisphere.

Population

The population of Brazil is one-hundred-seventy-five million people. 83.3% males can read and write at age fifteen and over. 83.2% females can read and write. 

Climate

The weather is mostly tropical but temperate in the south. In January the temperature is mostly around 70.2 degrees F. But in July it's mostly around 65.1 degrees F. Annually the rainfall is 63 inches.

Economy

10.00 USD United States Dollars = 28.8483 BRLBrazil Reais.

Government

Brazil's government is Federal Republic. 

Men and working women who are 16 to 65 years old, must cast their votes. People over 65,women who do not work and military officers may choose to vote or not.

Idea of Beauty  

Brazil used to believe that the idea of beauty were bikinis made of clay and lots of jewels the bikini was either plain r painted with geometric motifs and tied around the waist with a piece of string. The jewels was made out of feathers and seeds ,decorated for arms and ankles. The Indian women has a natural charm they had their hair down walked around barefoot and only made her self up on special occasions.

 

Cultural Arts:

Brazil has amazing pottery, dishes, vases, and burial urns.

 

Useful Expressions:

People in Brazil speak English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Food

Feijod (Meat and Bean Stew)

Ingredients -

  • 8 cups of dried black beans

  •  3lb of carne seca (Brazilian salted cured beef)

  •  2lb of sweet sausage (use Portuguese chorizo when available)

  • 2lb of baby black spareribs

  •  bay leaves

  • 1 large onion

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil

This recipe is a favorite in Brazil. Also, coffee  is a very popular crop!

 

Holidays and Festivals

The festivals in Brazil are large circuses. In Rio there are the biggest carnivals out of the whole of Europe.

 

Fun and Recreation

Futebol (but really soccer) in Brazil is very popular.  Some sports in Brazil are horse racing, hang gliding, wind surfing, sailing, fishing, rock climbing, and hiking.
