Geography

Argentina is in South America, which is in the Southern Hemisphere. The Argentina Republic covers 1.1 million square miles(2.8 million square kilometers.) The vast chain of the Andes Mountains forms the western border. The area of Argentina is 1,083,000 square miles (2,776,890 square kilometers.) Argentina's neighboring countries are Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay.    

Population

The population in Argentina is 37,812,817.The capital has over 16 million

Climate

Argentina lies in the southern Hemisphere, southern seasons are opposite those in north America and Europe. Summer lasts from December through March and winter June to September. During these months,the temperature can go as high as 120 degrees (49 degrees celsius). Apart from the heat this area experiences heavy rainfall. 

Economy

Argentina has the  highest per capita  income in Latin America and most  Argentines enjoy a reasonable standard of living. In the past, however, Argentina was not stable. Argentina had become one of the poorest by the 1970's . Now in the 21st century the Argentines economy is very strong.  

Government

Argentina has a republican , a representative, federal system government, which is divided into three branches- executive, legislative and judicial.   

 

 

 

 

Useful Expressions:

The official language in Argentina is Spanish plus 17 indigenous languages,English languages and a handful of Native languages. 

Food

The tuna is a favorite fruit  in Argentina. Parrilla is a dish many Argentines enjoy -Argentina's  version of the American BBQ where meat is roasted on the grill over hot coals. Argentina's ice cream is called chelados. 

Holidays and Fesitivals

The holidays  in Argentina are, Labor day , May Revolution  of 1810, Malvinas Day, Flag Day and Independance Day.

Fun and Recreation

Argentines are also avid players and sports fans. In Argentina, people play some sports such as soccer, trekking, skiing, rugby, polo and some water sports. Wilderness walks are very popular with beautiful treks through the Andes Mountains.

Cultural Arts:They dance the Tango which is the best known manifestation of the Argentine popular culture.
