Albania
has stories like every other country would. One fact about a story
or a tall tale is that they have been important in
Albania for centuries. Under 400 years of Ottoman rule,
Albanians kept their history and culture alive through music
and stories. Troubadours and minstrels traveled the country
singing songs, some of them thousands of verses long. The
songs told of valor, love of country and of freedom, hatred
of oppression and the willingness to sacrifice oneself for
one’s country. Many played an instrument called a lahuta,
a one-stringed lute.
