The Legacy of Janusz Korzcak

I feel honored to be participating in this art show. As an artist I have not experienced a more emotional journal than working towards creating a tribute to this great man, Janusz Korczak. His story will stay with me always.
Warsaw, Poland, a time of peace and prosperity to World War II, a brutal and senseless war killing millions of Jews. Janusz Korczak dedicated his life to children, educating, caring and loving them. “They are our hope for the future.”
From the orphanage to the Ghetto, a promise of safety and then a broken promise. August 1942, nearly 200 children were condemned to death. They marched silently with Janusz Korczak leading them. They did not weep on this last march. I do weep every time I think or talk about this devastating tragedy.
Janusz Korczak, a hero, a legend. He is truly “the champion of the children” never to be forgotten.
