The Doctor – his legacy, his courage
Janusz Korczak was a pediatrician, a writer, a reformer. He lived his life for the children, to make their lives better. He taught adults to treat children with compassion, decency and respect. He reformed the way orphanages were run and how children developed. In the end he chose to stay with the children and share their fate. I wanted my painting to reflect some of the beauty in his life and not just the darkness of its end.
